Sportsbike Hunters, Triumph kicks off the 2022 Speed Triple RR

The world is full of conflict. There’s a conflict between countries and a conflict between man and machine.

Conflicts fascinate me, but the last one has always been a bit more personal for me.

Conflicts make two viable options pit against each other to see which one rises above the rest.

The 2022 Triumph Speed Triple RR pits a modern superbike against a stylish cafe racer mix streetfighter.

The market’s been waiting for those who want gobs of power from their superbike and want that aggression that comes with riding a full-fledged sportbike.

Let’s get one thing straight—the Speed Triple RR isn’t a café racer. Sure, Triumph has remodelled the RR’s slim tank and cool bound seat.

But the inline-triple motor is still in its stock location, and the sleek exhaust looks just fine.

But let’s be honest: The Speed Triple RR is a sportbike that just wants to look pretty when it’s not blowing out of its supersport foes at the track.

So will Triumph accomplish its goal with the new 2022 Speed Triple SR? That is precisely what we intend to find out.

What do we see new here?

The entire set of RR gets Ohlins Smart EC 2.0 electronically adjustable, semi-active suspension. RR is one step ahead as RS has an NIX30 inverted fork and TTX36 twin-tube mono-shock.
Amended ergonomics with Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP V3’s to add extra grip.
The sports clip-on are located 2 inches forward and 5 inches lower. However, the raised pegs ensure the rider gets a comfortable stance to ride.
With 32.5 inches, the seat height is lower than it’s earlier to its ancestors; however, that doesnt make any difference in the stance, and it is pretty comfortable.
The Speed Triple RR does away with some of the comforts and wind protection that the regular Speed Triple provides and offers more than just a high-spec road bike. It isn’t just about function. Though, it also has a striking form.
Further, Triumph has gets rid of its dual headlight and instead, we see a round headlight that takes inspiration from the neo-retro bikes.
And same goes with the fairing, and they too look inspired by the neo-retro trend.
The 2022 Speed Triple RR arrives in a Red Hopper/Storm Grey paint scheme and a Crystal White/Storm Grey paint scheme. Both these paint schemes have their own identities and manage to maintain the sporting stance.
Under the beautiful hood, the new RR gets a 1,160cc inline-triple,liquid-cooled DOHC that calibrates to make 177 horsepower at 10,750rpm and 92 pound-feet of torque 9,000 rpm with a six-speed gearbox.
What’s more, the 1,160cc takes support from a robust Triumph’s new twin-spar aluminium frame that we saw first on the RS.
320 mm discs perform braking duties Brembo Stylema monoblocs compared to the Brembo two-piston calliper and 220mm single disc on the faired variant.
The solid electronic packages have a full-colour five-inch TFT console, cruise control, advanced wheelie control, five ride modes, traction and cornering ABS. The excellent connectivity also comes from the My Triumph system.
As for the price, the new RR arrives at $20,950, which is $2,650 more than RS. However, the RR comes with a two-year/unlimited mileage warranty.
Triumph also brings 30 accessories for the new RR.
The new RR will be available with the dealers in January 2022.
