Is a New TVS Apache in the Works? Everything We Know So Far

TVS has officially patented the name RTX for its Apache range of motorcycles. The first two letters of this name are identical to the RTR range, which includes 160cc, 180cc, and 200cc models. This indicates that the new bike may be based on these platforms.

However, some Apaches, like the RTR 200, have remained unchanged for several years. This leaves the possibility that this name could be used for a bike based on a new platform within the Apache family. 

Furthermore, the development of the RR 310’s naked derivative has been ongoing for a while. Although these trademark filings don’t reveal much, they do provide a glimpse of what future model names may look like. TVS has also recently patented a cruiser design that is worth examining.

Another possibility is the RTX could be an adventure bike. TVS already has the Apache RR 310, so offering an adventure-oriented version of the bike would make sense. This could be based on the RR 310 platform but with a more relaxed riding position and more off-road capable suspension.

Or is TVS building a new Apache RR 310? The TVS Apache RR 310 is a fully-faired sportbike that TVS Motor Company manufactures. It is also known as the TVS Akula, the name given to the concept version showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo in India. The Apache RR 310 was launched in late 2017 as a production model.

A 312.2cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine powers the TVS Apache RR 310. This engine is derived from the BMW G 310 R and features fuel injection. It produces around 34 horsepower and is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The bike offers strong acceleration and a top speed of about 160 km/h (100 mph).
