The first day of the Italian Grand Prix at Mugello was eventful for the Repsol Honda Team. Marc Marquez had a strong performance despite a crash during Practice Two. He initially stayed within the top ten and maintained a competitive pace with the rest of the field.Â
Turn 14
However, with just ten minutes left in the session, Marquez fell at Turn 14. Despite the fall, he quickly got back on his feet, sprinted back to the garage, and returned to the track with just over five minutes remaining.
True to his style, Marquez immediately set a fast lap and briefly held the top position on the timing sheets. He finished the day as the eighth fastest rider, with a best lap time of 1’45.691, only 0.255 seconds behind the quickest rider, Francesco Bagnaia.
Mir
On the other hand, Joan Mir, Marquez’s teammate, had a challenging day. During the second practice session, Mir had a crash, forcing him to end his day prematurely. He experienced significant discomfort and had his hand examined, revealing damage to his right hand’s fifth finger.Â
Considering the Mugello Circuit’s high-speed and demanding nature, Mir and the Repsol Honda Team withdrew from the rest of the event due to his hand injury.
As a result, Marc Marquez will be the sole representative of the Repsol Honda Team for the remaining sessions and the Italian Grand Prix, which resumes at 10:10 Local Time on Saturday, June 10.

“We had a difficult day today, Mugello is always a challenging track for us, and I had to use a lot of energy today to get into Q2. This was our target, so I am satisfied we achieved it, but we need to improve a few points for the next two days. It was a busy day trying things today as well, which should help us to come up with some solutions for tomorrow. The goal for tomorrow is to stay in the top ten; the weather is still uncertain, so this might offer us more opportunities.
