First Spy Shots of Mahindra BE.05 Electric SUV

The Mahindra BE.05 electric SUV, set to launch by October 2025, has been spied testing near Mahindra Research Valley in Chennai, India. The BE.05 will be a direct competitor to the Tata Curvv EV.

Based on the spy shots, the BE.05 retains much of its design from the concept version, although there are some subtle changes. The exterior styling appears smoother with fewer cuts and creases, and the concept’s cameras in place of wing mirrors have been replaced with conventional wing mirrors. The flared wheel arches have been toned down, but the distinctive C-shaped LED daytime running lamps and the unique four-door SUV-coupe profile remain.

    Dimensions

The dimensions of the BE.05 are expected to be similar to the concept version, with a length of 4,370mm, width of 1,900mm, height of 1,635mm, and a wheelbase of 2,775mm. The bonnet design has been altered, replacing the central air duct from the concept. The flush door handles may also be repositioned to a more conventional location.

While no interior images have been revealed, the concept version showcased a dual-screen layout, a two-spoke steering wheel, and a rotary control with a large gear selector.

    EV

The BE.05 will be based on Mahindra’s INGLO EV skateboard platform, specifically designed for electric vehicles. It will utilize a standard battery pack design with standardized cell-to-pack technology, incorporating both Blade and Prismatic cell structures.

Battery sizes will range from 60-80kWh, allowing for fast charging up to 175kW, with an estimated 80% charge in under 30 minutes. Mahindra claims that the 80kWh battery should provide a driving range of about 435km to 450km (WLTP cycle). The BE.05 will offer both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive options, depending on the model.

    Conclusion

In the Mahindra lineup, the BE.05 will be positioned above the XUV400 EV and directly compete with the Tata Curvv EV, scheduled for sale in 2024.

The BE.05 will be powered by a single electric motor producing around 150 horsepower. It will have a battery pack offering a range of around 400 kilometres. The BE.05 will be available in both rear-wheel and all-wheel drive configurations.

The Mahindra BE.05 is expected to be priced competitively, and it is expected to be a popular choice for buyers in the Indian market.
