Mr Nitin Gadkari emphasises the need to develop new indigenous technologies

Scrapping older vehicles in India can help reduce the country’s import dependence on metals such as aluminium and copper. These metals can be extracted from old vehicles and recycled into new products.

    Sustainable

Additionally, using wastelands from mining activities sustainably can provide opportunities to develop green infrastructure, such as parks, solar farms, and wind farms. This can contribute to the country’s combatting climate change and promoting sustainable development.

He mentioned materials such as aluminium, copper, steel, rubber, and plastic can be recycled. This implies that promoting the use of recycled materials in the construction and maintenance of highways could also be an essential factor in reducing the environmental impact of transportation infrastructure in India.

    9% reduction

He said to ETAuto, ” By new roads and changes in fuel, our target is to reduce it to 9%. This will increase our exports and is an opportunity to India.”
