Kawasaki W175 caught lurking on camera

For the first time in India, we see the Kawasaki W175 arrives effectively on the camera. The W175 is the youngest models in Kawasaki’s heritage models segment the eldest being Z900RS Cafe.

The W175 is the smaller version of W800 and is present in countries like the Philippines and Indonesia.

Kawasaki Indonesia has a wide variety of portfolio with 2020 Kawasaki W175 tr, W175 cafe and 2019 variants of W250 and W250SE.

    Engine

    The W175 come with 177cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder, carburettor motor which calibrates to make 13.05hp @ 7500 rpm and 13.2Nm (1.3 kgf.m) @ 6000 rpm torque. The motor further comes integrated with a 5-speed transmission.

With 131kmph as top speed, the W175 is an ideal city commuter as well as for the partial long rides.

    Style

The style is similar to W800, and W175 has a round halogen elongated headlight, spoke wheels, the exhaust shape identical to the elder cousin W800, retro-styled small round blinkers, round mirrors.

Kawasaki’s original W was the largest displacement Japanese model of its time.

It comes with classic analogue-style speedometer complemented by an odometer and trip meter. The W175 gets a large fuel tank with a 13.5litres capacity, and the entire package is light and weighs 126kgs.

Like the other models in the W family, a “W” emblem on the speedo face adds a classy touch.

    Design

The suspension on the front is 30mm inverted fork while the opposite end gets swingarm, dual shock absorbers with spring preload adjustability. As for the brakes, the front comes with the 220mm disc and the rear with 110mm drum.

Handlebar, seat, footpegs put the rider in a natural position and contribute to rider comfort.

The Indonesian W175 version comes in four different paint schemes, and they are.

    • Putih(White)
    • Hitam (Black)

    • Biru (Blue) and

    • Silver

However, the version which we see in the spy shot is Black colour. So we are confident Kawasaki India will bring Black W175 to India.

Yet what more colours in W175 Kawasaki India will get is still a question.

The India launch details are still under the wraps. However, we expect the W175 to arrive with less than Rs.2 Lakh (ex-showroom) in India.

Further, the W175 will be an excellent entry-level retro for Kawasaki India as it only has a BS6 W800 in its retro segment.
