    Thailand gets new 2021 Yamaha R15

    Yamaha Thailand has unveiled the new lower displacement R15, which is 2021 variant. The lineage, of course, comes from the elder sibling the R1.

    Engine

    The new 2021 comes with 55cc single-cylinder, 4-valve, liquid-cooled motor tagged with the 6-speed transmission gearbox. The good part it comes with intelligent variable valves actuation (VVA) provides torque for ease of use even at low RPM.

    The new 2021 R15 is capable of having 19hp of power and 14.7 Nm of torque.

    LEDs

    The design comes inspired by its elder sibling the R1; therefore, the new 2021 R15 gets the sharp LED headlights, and the same goes with the rear portion as well.

    Assist and Slipper clutch

    The new R15 comes with the slipper clutch system to reduce the force of the rear wheel while lowering the high gear to the lower gear.

    Further to add the LCD dash complete with all functions like the gear shifts and light switch indicator. The LCD also features the fuel, gear position, speed, distance and rpm indicators.

    Tires

    To increase the safety, Yamaha has put large radial tires (front tires: 100/80 – 17, rear tires: 140/70 – 17) increase the contact area of ​​the road, confident cornering.

    Brakes

    Brake duties are performed by the single-disc 282mm and 220mm size respectively for the front and rear wheels.

    Going further the Yamaha has also designed the new swingarm which suites the alloy wheels.

    The new R15 gets the new shock absorber front suspension with inverted shock Low centre of gravity design absorbs road conditions increase the cornering performance.

    There are three paint schemes available for the new Yamaha R15.

    • Yamaha racing blue
    • Monster black and
    • Matt grey

    When compared with the colours of the present BS6 Yamaha R15. 

    • Yamaha racing blue 

    • Thunder grey looks 

    • Dark knight and Monster look same

    However, we see Matt grey as a new colour. 

    The price in the Thai market is ฿97,500.00 when converted to Indian rupees comes around Rs 2.30 lakh and the present R15 costs Rs 1.5 lakh (ex-showroom) Delhi.

    If Yamaha wants to bring it in Indian market we are not sure how the price in the Indian market will be less if the price in the Thai market is more.
